High School Reform Initiative

Student Goals

Goals

  •  100 percent of district seniors will pass the California High School Exit Examination.
  • 100 percent of the seniors will meet district graduation requirements.
  • 75% of district graduates will meet the UC/CSU "a-g" course requirements.
  • 100 percent of district students who enroll at a UC or CSU campus will meet the entrance requirements for English and mathematics proficiency.
  • The four-year dropout rate for the district will not exceed 13.9% (the rate in the baseline year of 2000-2001).

2003-2004 PERFORMANCE INDICATOR TARGETS

UC/CSU College Entrance Indicators

1.0  A-G Coursework

Meet yearly targets until 75% of graduating seniors meet UC/CSU requirements.

2.0  AP Test Takers/Qualifying Rate

Increase AP Qualifying rates, which measure the number of AP Exams earning college credit per 100 juniors and seniors enrolled. Increase the number of AP and/or IB course offerings. (Student placements)

3.0  GPA: 3.0 or above

Show annual improvement on the numbers of students with college weighted GPA at or above 3.0, which is aligned to the district's standards and content objectives.

4.0  Exams taken/SAT Scores

Increase the number of students who take the SAT each year; increase the average verbal and math score towards 550 on the SAT exam; or achieve a 3 or higher on the mathematics or English AP exams which eliminates the need for remediation or ELM/EPT qualification score.

5.0  PSAT Exams

Increase the number of students per year taking the PSAT exams.

State Accountability Indicators

6.0  API

Each high school will meet the API State growth target of 5% per year or better including all subgroups.

7.0  CST

School sites will increase California State Standards Test scores each year in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science and Science by increasing the number of students at proficient and advanced levels in each of these areas.

8.0  AYP

School sites will meet all yearly AYP targets as a total school and by individual subgroups.

9.0  CAHSEE

School sites will meet yearly targets set for percentages of students passing both the English and Mathematics portions of the CAHSEE.These include 60% Sophomores, 80% Juniors and 100% Seniors.

School Site Performance Indicators

10.0        Grades

Each school site will meet their targets for reducing the number of D's and F's to less than 25% schoolwide. In addition, each school will meet their targets for increasing the 9th grade Algebra pass rate to > or = 80%.

11.0        End-Of-Course Exams

Each school site will increase the percentage of students reaching mastery on Physics, English 9 and Algebra End-of-Course exams.

Culture & Personalization Indicators

12.0        Actual Attendance

Actual attendance at all schools will stay above the 2003 base year value and increase to 96.5% by 2006.

13.0        Drop Out Rate

Do not exceed baseline year (2000-2001) drop out rate of 13.9%

14.0        Suspension Rate

Decrease at all schools the number of overall suspensions yearly.

15.0        "Class Of" Graduation Rate

Increase overall graduation rate by 10% annually until 100% target is met.
